Fish-Flavoured Shredded Pork (鱼香肉丝)

Despite its name, there’s no fish in this dish. Instead, it’s a stir-fry of pork and vegetables in a tangy, sweet, and spicy sauce that mimics the flavour profile of fish dishes.

Fish-Flavoured Shredded Pork

Ingredients:

  • Pork (sliced): 300g
  • Carrots (shredded): 100g
  • Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger: 1 tsp, minced
  • Doubanjiang (Broad Bean Paste): 1 tbsp
  • Soy sauce: 1 tbsp
  • Vinegar: 1 tbsp
  • Sugar: 1 tsp
  • Corn starch: 1 tbsp

Instructions:

  • Marinate pork with corn starch and soy sauce.
  • Stir-fry garlic, ginger, and doubanjiang.
  • Add pork, carrots, and seasonings (vinegar, sugar, soy sauce), stir-fry until cooked.
